Write a report on Drive Against Food Adulteration
Drive Against Food Adulteration
Sujon Ahmed, Dhaka, 05 April: A whole variety of adulterated food are getting caught by mobile courts across the country. The mobile courts are actively operating their inspections and punishing almost all the hotel managers for using unsafe food ingredients and for keeping their kitchen unhygienic. The mobile courts have also caught the restaurant people red handed while using in food chemicals and artificial colors, which are usually used in dying cloths.
The BSTI (Bangladesh Standard and Testing Institute) experts said in an exclusive interview "Some dishonest and unscrupulous businessmen and hotel owners are not maintaining the rules of BSTI and continue to sell foods unfit for human consumption." A professor of Food and Nutrition Department of Dhaka University said, "Substandard and unhygienic food stuffs are being sold in most of the hotels and restaurants indiscriminately."
As a result of eating stale and unsafe food, people are suffering from serious diseases including diarrhea and dysentery round the year." Most of the consumers opine that BSTI should be more active, law enforcing agencies should be more dynamic, and media should come forward to create awareness among the people.
