Extra salt in the food is harmful
Health Reporter:
We cannot make food without salt. Salt is a must to make any food. But many of us are not aware that such consumption of extra salt may cause high blood pressure. It is not only salt but also any sodium based food may also cause high blood pressure. In a report published by World Health Organization (WHO), it is mentioned that consumption of 5 gram is enough for a healthy person. But unfortunately, in Bangladesh, each person consumes10 to 15 gram of salt in average. The suggestions to avoid salt and sodium based food are given herewith.
Always consume fresh food. Try to avoid processed can food like soup, noodles, vegetables, fish and meat, readymade packet of preserved food like potato chips, cheese and meat. Avoid using ketch up, mastered oil, soya sauce and ingredients for preparing salad to make food tasty. One should avoid foods like pickles.
Do not keep salt container on the table and useless salt in cooking. Avoid popcorn, crackers and peanut. It is wise to avoid taking food from the restaurant. If you do not want to avoid processed food, only select food with less salt. All these measures will reduce the chances of high blood pressure which is a root cause of many other diseases.
