Bangladesh beat New Zealand by 9 runs in the first one day of the five-match Micromax ODI Cup at Sher-E-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Tuesday.
The visiting New Zealand scored 200 runs by eight wickets in 37 overs in reply to host's 228 runs.
The match has been reduced to maximum 37 overs following the rain and the visitors had required 210 runs to win.
The torrential rain stopped the play for nearly one hour since 2:30pm.
Shakib Al Hasan grabbed four wickets while Abdur Razzak and Nayeem Islam took one each.
Earlier, the hosts scored 228 in 49.3 overs,after vice-captain Shakib Al Hasan smashed a fifty of 58 balls.
New Zealand bowlers Kyle Mills grabbed three wickets while Daniel Vettori, Andy Makay and Jesse Ryder grabbed two wickets each and NL Cullum took one wicket.
Earlier in the morning, Bangladesh captain Mashrafee Mortoza won the toss and choose to bat against the visitors.
