A hobby is an occupation that we do other than our normal course of duties. It is done only for one's amusement. My hobby is to collect postal stamps, which is popularly known as 'Philately'.

I have an album for collecting stamps. Whenever, I get a rare piece of stamp, I have it pasted accordingly in my album. My hobby gives me much pleasure. Whenever I show my collections of stamps to anyone, he/she feels very charmed. No doubt, my hobby gives me much amusement and joy. The hobby of collecting stamps has much educative value. I request my acquainted persons to send me the stamps they might have. I always write to my relatives living abroad and in return when they write back to me I certainly have some rare collections of stamps. I also write short history of every stamp regarding the date of collection and other information. By collecting stamps, one can gather knowledge about the important monuments, statesmen, product and history of the countries.

Though 'Philately' is rare as a hobby but it is traditional. The job we do for our livelihood or for gain is like a task imposed on us. We have to do our regular duties whether we get any delight or not but hobby gives us a sense of relaxation from the life's business of loss and gain.
