Leisure

Leisure means the time free from routine work or other routine activities. It also means happy activities usually done during leisure. It is different from routine work in the sense that one can spend leisure by the way of doing anything voluntarily while one needs to do routine work obligatorily.

Leisure benefits us in many ways. It provides us with the opportunities of rest and recreation. It helps us to get rid of our monotony and makes us feel refreshed to do our routine work with renewed energy. However, leisure activities differ from person to person and country to country. Usually village people spend their leisure by gossiping, playing cards, and visiting friends' or relatives' houses. They also take part in rural cultural activities like jatra, baulgan, jarigan, sarigan, kabigan, etc.  Nowadays most of the village people spend their leisure by listening to radio and watching television. They also enjoy the football match, the cricket match, the horse race, the boat race, the kite flying, etc.

On the other hand, city people attend seminars, parties, cultural functions, read newspapers, and watch television programmes. Young people of town and city go to parks, go on a picnic, or a study tour, and visit some important places. The old people usually spend their leisure by reading books or newspapers, walking, and gossiping. In winter people make cakes, and drink date juice. Football, ha-du-du, cricket, badminton, and volleyball are the popular games at that time. However, watching television is the most common pastime of people all over the world. I find great pleasure in travelling because it helps me much to know the unknown and see the unseen.
