A book fair is a place where many kinds of books are displayed and sold. Different book fairs are arranged at different time on different occasion. Bangla Academy Book Fair holds a special place in our national interest. Nationally it is arranged by the Bangla Academy annually on the occasion of international mother language day. It is organized on the premise of Bangla Academy beside the University of Dhaka.

Hundreds of publication companies participate there with thousands of newly published books. As it is arranged nationally, usually the prime minister of our country inaugurates the fair. It’s a month long arrangement. Visitors enter there with great interest and fill their thirst of reading books. Renowned writers from home and abroad come there and meet their fans. They deliver speeches on the programmes arranged by the fair authority. Sometimes, there are cultural programmes.

On last February we went to Bangla Academy Book Fair. Many publication companies showed and sold many kinds of book. There were fiction, novel, biography, story book, text book and so on. I went with my father. I bought some book of children story and some English book. There were some stalls where fast food was being sold. Along with Ekushey Boi Mela, Bangla Academy arranges other book fairs time to time. This national organization satisfies readers with numerous new books of varied interest.
