Internet is the latest invention of science for the benefit of mankind. It is the computer-based global information system. All forms of knowledge, information, inventions, techniques, process, technologies, art, literature, etc are available in internet. It has influenced almost all walks of our life.
The internet is composed of many interconnected computer networks. Each network may link tens, hundreds and even thousands of computers. Today through internet people all over the world can communicate effectively and inexpensively with one another. Internet is not like traditional broadcasting media, such as radio and television. An individual who has the internet access can communicate directly with anyone else on the internet. In this world of globalization and IT revolution, internet is very important. The internet has brought about new opportunities to government, business and education. Governments use the internet for internal communication and distribution of information. The government of our country can take it as an aid to decision making. This can help bringing transparency in the very process of governance.
In Bangladesh the use of internet has increased in the last few years. Today many individuals use the internet for shopping, paying bills and online banking. Educational institutions use the internet for research and teaching well. Internet is the most reliable and cheapest mode of communication. It plays significant role in economic development. In Bangladesh, internet is used in the production of goods and services.
It has same demerits, too. Especially the teen-agers are very prone to absorb the demerits of internet. They chat with their friends or unknown persons, when they are supposed to be at their desk to study. In addition, sometimes criminal and terrorists take the advantage of internet to commit crime
Internet is an inanimate object. It will not guide us what to do. We should take the good things and avoid the bad sides.
