TITLE:The Tortoise and the Birds

A long ago, a tortoise sat on the dusty land and watched the birds wheeling and circling in the air over his head. He grew dissatisfied with his lowly life when he saw so many of them enjoying themselves in the clear blue sky; he longed to join them and share freedom.

One day the birds were celebrating a very important day and invited the tortoise to the party. They also told him to invite his friends too. The tortoise knew there’ll be lots to eat and drink and loss of presents but being the very greedy creature that it was did not went to invite others. He really wanted to go to the party and schemed and planned but couldn’t figure how to get there since he had no wings and none of the birds were willing to lend him any feathers. The day of the party finally arrived and he still hadn’t managed to scheme his way to transportation. So he made a deal to lend him a feather each to make wings and go to the party with him and they will share all the food, drink and presents.

When the tortoise went the party, the birds were very welcoming and gracious. They wanted to get to know everyone and asked all their names. The birds all gave their names but when it got to the tortoise, he gave his name as “All of you”. When the food came out, the server said, this is for “All of you”, same with the drinks and the presents. Of course the tortoise tricked the birds and told them that this was for him and they should be patient, theirs was coming. And it came to the end of the party and the birds were still waiting while the tortoise was full and drunk. The birds then could realize the trick and become very angry. They took their feathers from the tortoise and he jumped all the way from the sky to the earth and cracked his shell all over the all over the place and in injured himself so badly that he can barely walk.
