Commission to stop digging roads round the year

The Govt. has taken decision on principle to form Utility Service Commission (USC) to increase the coordination effort between different Govt. agencies offering utility service.

The Govt. has taken some decision to stop uncoordinated work of digging the city roads by WASA, gas, telephone and electricity departments throughout the year. This decision will be finalized after a meeting by all the concerned ministries of the Govt. providing utility services. In this meeting it was also decided to remove all the unauthorized mobile phone towers on the building rooves. These towers are hindering safe air traffic, an aviation official complained.

These were decided in a meeting by the representatives from the utility service departments with the Advisor for Local Govt. and Rural Development, Anwarul Kabir in the chair. The meeting was attended by WASA, electricity and energy, environment and forestry, Postal and telephone, TITAS, RAJUK, DCC, DMP and REHAB officials.

It was agreed that if the commission is constituted, the work of repair and maintenance will be done much faster within a stipulated time. At present, the digging work continues for the whole year. The respective department will take prior permission from the commission for digging the road within a time frame. If the work is not completed within the time, the respective person in charge of the work will be punished.

Most of us take salt to make our food tasty. But we are not aware that such consumption of raw salt with food is very harmful, especially those who have blood pressure. It is also cause to develop blood pressure to those who do not have it. As such, we should be careful in talking raw salt with our food.
