30 people fell sick due to food poisoning in Comilla

At last 30 people feel sick after taking marriage feast at a reception ceremony at groom’s residence at village Dighipara in Barura thana under Comilla district. Among them 21 were admitted in Comilla Medical College Hospital out of which five were started to be in critical condition.
Sources said the incident took place on 20th January at the residence of Jabbar Mollah. His son waliur mollah married the daughter of shaikh Abdur Rahim of village Nanda Para under the same union. The guests from the brides said were invited on the occasion.
Eye witnesses report that the guests were invited to take their meal a around 1pm. After some time, few of the guests started vomiting and fell unconscious. They were rushed to the upazila health complex. As their conditions deteriorated, they were rushed to Comilla Medical College Hospital. Subsequently, many more fell sick and were taken to the hospital. Some of them were given first aid and released. In the meantime police reached the scene and confiscated the cooked food and the cook and his staffs. Some believed that the food has son of Abdul Quddus has been arrested for questioning.
A case has been filed in this connection with Barura police station. When conducted, the officer-in-Charge informed that an IO has been deputed to investigate into the matter. This incident became a talk of the area throughout the day.
