Diarrhoea claims 6 in weeks 111 more hospitalized

Two diarrhea patients died on Sunday night, raising the number of diarrhoeal deaths to six in a week, while 111 more people were admitted to Pabna General Hospital and Pabna sadar Upazila Health Complex in 24 hours till yesterday afternoon.

A specialized team will start work in Pabna from today to find the nature and cause of the disease, district health officials said.

Sixty-five new patients were admitted to the diarrhea word of Pabna General Hospital and 46 other diarrhea patients took treatment from Pabna Sadar Upazila Complex in last 24 hours, Hospital sources said.

Shafiuddin, 35, of village Mahamudpur, died in Pabna General Hospital and dipjal, 8 son of a sweeper, died on the way to Hospital on Sunday night.

Many treatment seekers have to stay on the Hospital floor.

“Following our request to the director General’s office, a specialized team comprising an assistant director of health department and a diarrhoea specialist will start working from tomorrow  [Tuesday] to identify the nature and causes of the disease in Pabna. Steps will be taken according to findings,” Dr Dipak Kumar, deputy civil surgeon of Pabna, said yesterda
