The cow is a very useful domestic animal. It is a four-footed animal and has eyes, ears, teeth and a tail like other animals. It may be of different colours – white, red, black or mixed. The Cow lives on grass. They also eat leaves of trees, straw, starch of rice and oil-cakes. Cows give us milk and milk is our best drink. A cow gives birth to one calf at a time and we start getting milk after the calf is born. We get butter oil and curd from milk. Cowdung  is also useful to us. We use them as manure as well as fuel.

The meat of cows is called beef. The Muslims like eating beef. The farmers use cows for drawing ploughs. The hide of the cow is tanned into leather. Bags, boxes and shoes are made of leather. Cows are the most useful domestic animals and we must take care of them.
