Write a Letter to Your Friend About Your Recent Visit to Aparajeo Bangla

    25 May, 2015

    Dear Hasib,

I was in Dhaka for a couple of days and already visited ‘Aparajeo Bangla’ and I must write you something about it. It is a marvelous piece of sculpture. In English ‘Aparjeo Bangla’ signifies “Unconquerable Bangladesh’. It stands right in front of the Arts Building of the University of Dhaka on a high pedestal facing the lawn and the main gate. The huge and magnificent sculpture is composed of three figures, larger than life standing side by side.

They represent our freedom fighters during the War of Liberation in 1971. They are two brave young men with a rifle and grenade in their hands and a young nurse with a first aid box hung on her right shoulder. The figures are in a posture of marching forward. All three of them seem to be animated by the spirit of defending their motherland and the hope of victory.

‘Aparajeo Bangla’ is indeed a glorious tribute to the great sacrifices as well as achievements of our freedom fighters. It is also a wonderful work of art. I believe it is not only admirable but also very inspiring. It charmed me much. I hope you are all right and I wish you good luck. No more today. I am looking forward to receiving your reply letter.

    Yours ever,
    Jamiya
